[E.C. 1 of 7] Make your formatting come to life!

Hey Reader,

Welcome to our first Excel lesson from this course! I'm excited to kick things off with you today.

We're starting our journey right where most Excel users spend a lot of their time - the Home ribbon.

It's probably the most familiar part of Excel for many of us, but I bet there are still some cool tricks hiding in there that you might not know about.

One of the most popular things you can do in the home ribbon is that you can control your cell formatting and conditional formatting.

Custom formatting lets you control how your data is displayed. It's not just about bold and italics - you can create formats that make your numbers more meaningful at a glance.

Conditional formatting automatically applies styles to your cells based on their values. It's a great way to highlight important data or trends without manual work.

In today's video lesson, I'll show you how to use these features to turn a basic profit and loss statement into a clear, informative visual tool.

After you've watched the video and tried these techniques, let me know what you think.

Did you discover any new ways to use these features?

Tomorrow, we'll be exploring the Insert ribbon and diving into some chart creation tips.

Talk soon,
Josh

If you've been following me for a while, you've probably seen my beautifully designed templates. As you might expect, achieving such results requires a lot of formatting. A lot....

Hey Reader, Welcome to day 3 of our Excel journey! I hope you've been enjoying our deep dives into the Home and Insert ribbons. Today, we're in for a special treat. While we'd normally explore the Page Layout ribbon next, we're going to take an exciting detour and jump straight to the Data ribbon. Why? Because it houses one of Excel's most powerful tools: Power Query. As you may know, I'm launching my newest course, "Everything You Can Do In Excel" on Monday. To celebrate this grand launch,...

Hey Reader, Welcome to day two of our Excel journey. I hope you enjoyed yesterday's lesson on the Home ribbon. Today, we're moving on to the Insert ribbon. Watch The Lesson When it comes to the Insert ribbon, creating charts is probably the most important feature you'll use. Excel offers a wide variety of chart types, but I've noticed many people tend to stick with just pie charts or basic line graphs. Even worse, I often see people using charts with the default formatting. That's nothing...
